We didn t want anything to prevent the use of our new range so we cut the cabinet in half.
Taping over the line will help keep the cut from splintering. Today i m going to share with you how i altered both of these cabinets. Just put a brace across the top for support. Pull the cabinet apart by first using the reversible screwdriver to back out all visible screws.

Cut the drawer box back end off and attached the ply. After you mark cover the line with painter tape if you can t see the line take a pen to push in the tape to the groove.

Make sure that the width of the bottom section accounts for the width that will be added by the side pieces being added on either side. 2 place the cabinet door face down on the plywood. Place the cabinet across two sawhorses face up. Apply clamps around the perimeter.
Then marked and cut the support slides about an inch longer than needed. Then cut the drawer side slides off the front to keep the plastic runner wheel. The bottom piece will be 24 deep but the width will depend on the dimensions of your kitchen. Remove the clamps when the glue is dry.
I actually thought of doing this the first round of remodeling but then it presented the problem of the upper cabinet being to short so we decided to wait. Place a half sheet of random plywood flat atop the horses. Lay a drop cloth on the floor. Remove the cabinet doors with a screw gun and then mark the location of the cuts you need to make on the cabinet frame under the counter top and or between cabinets.
