Does A Living Room Need A Coffee Table

For very large living rooms consider using two coffee tables next to each other.
We often forget about cocktail tables but they re a great solution for living rooms where you may not want a coffee table. More fragile and delicate surfaces such as glass can be used in living rooms. While every room is sized differently you don t want to have your coffee table so far from the sofa that you can t reach your drink or put your feet up after a long day depending on your house rules of course. 16 to 18 is the ideal distance between the sofa and coffee table.
I do have some type of side table with each seat sofa and chairs. Take your coffee table for example. My kid friendly living room doesn t have a coffee table and i totally don t miss it as i have been putting together my new house one layer at a time i have gone back and forth on weather or not i actually need a coffee table and you know what i totally don t. So if you ve laid out your floorplan you should be able to see how large a coffee table you ll need.
It s great next to a big armchair but it works well floating in front of a sofa too. Do we really need a coffee table. We do not use a coffee table in our great room. You really don t need a coffee table in your living room.

You need a place to put up your feet put down drinks and most importantly to anchor the room. It would be best if you had a coffee table in your living room because it provides a dominant surface area that you can place your newspapers tv remotes magazines etc. It really interrupts the flow of the seating area. Sure it successfully anchors the rest of the room but the coffee table couch and television combo feels well basic.
Your coffee table should be between 14 18 inches from any seating clustered around it and definitely no more than 24 inches. But while a living room is a timeless staple in any home we think it s long overdue for an upgrade. Once you have the centerpiece of your living room which is the sofa it is time to get a coffee table. Our olivia 30 round table is one of our favorite pieces to use in living rooms.
Inho you can have too many tables. You may want a more formal coffee table in your living room depending on how you have decorated. I totally agree with les a coffee table serves no purpose in our great room. According to some design pros not necessarily.
